In the heart of the south Salento, “La Torretta Saracena” is for sale, a small building that stands as a tangible testimony to the rich history of the Apulian territory. This building is much more than just a home, it is a true symbol of the past eras that shaped this region.
Composed of two distinct architectural bodies built in different periods, the palace embodies centuries of history and evolution. The oldest part, dating back to the early 16th century, consists of a defense tower, once essential to protect the local population from the Saracen incursions that threatened the coasts after the tragic sack of Otranto in 1480. This ancient defensive nucleus , witness to a tumultuous era, was subsequently incorporated into the palace over the course of the centuries, presumably between the 16th and 17th centuries.
Thanks to meticulous restoration work, the entire building has been preserved in its authenticity, from the most intimate rooms to the charming kitchen area, embellished with a magnificent fireplace.
The main entrance, consisting of an entrance hall embellished with a majestic vault adorned with floral details carved into the characteristic Salento tufaceous stone, welcomes visitors with its timeless charm.
Inside, the house is arranged on three levels, offering six rooms on the ground floor with a suggestive and typical garden at the back, and a welcoming courtyard, a splendid cellar in the basement characterized by a typical barrel vault, and a further room located on the upper floor, crowning the watchtower, which offers a breathtaking view of the surroundings. The house also has three toilets. In the garden, which measures approximately 80 m2, permission could be requested for the construction of a swimming pool.
The property, currently intended to host a restaurant business, also offers the possibility of being converted to other uses, such as a private residence or accommodation facility, subject to authorization and regulatory compliance. All systems comply with current regulations and the building is regularly connected to public aqueduct, sewerage and methane gas services. The system and preparation for heating/cooling via fan coils have already been created.
This palace, located in Morciano di Leuca, represents an authentic jewel in the historical and architectural panorama of Salento, a precious testimony of a past rich in events and traditions that still shines in its magnificence today. The renowned marinas of Torre Vado and Pescoluse, both awarded with the blue flag, are only four kilometers away.
